When there is a newborn there are many rituals to be done.
1-First the father or one of the relatives has to say the call of prayer in the baby's right ear ,so Allah's name will be the first thing the baby hears.
2-Then the baby has to be named,and the prophet (peace be upon him)asked us to give the children good names.
3-Then a lamb is slaughtered,and the baby's hair is shaved and the price of it's weight in silver is given to the poor.
4-If it's a baby boy ,he is circumcised on the third or on the seventh day.
5-Of course there are different things people do to celebrate the arrival of newborns in the different regions of KSA.In the hijaz area they have a party on the seventh day and give candy and little gifts to the children attending this party,the baby is carried on a decorated pillow,and the baby is dressed witha niced white outfit,the children sing special songs greeting the newborn.

RIGHTS OF NEWBORNS in ISLAM:
Choosing a good mother.
-Saying a special prayer before having marital relations to ensure that satan ahs no way to this offspring.
-Feeding her while she is pregnant,even if they were divorced.
-Making prayers(dua'a) for the fetus.
-To hear the call to prayer as soon as hearing is established(7 days).
-To be named with a good name.
-To have a sheep slaughtered for this occasion.
-Boys to be circumcised.
-Breastfeed the baby for two years,even if the mother were divorced,she is payed for breastfeeding,if she doesn't care to another foster mother is payed to do so:
Bismillahi-rrahmani-rraheem
"Let the women live in ('iddat*)
In the same style as you live,
According to your means:
Annoy them not,so as
To restrict them.
And if they are pregnant,
Then spend(your substance)on them
Until they deliver their burden,
And if they suckle your (offspring),
Give them their recompense:
And take mutual counsel
Together,according to
What is just and reasonable.
And if you find yourselves
In difficulties,let another
Woman suckle(the child)
On the father's behalf."
{quran surat Attalaq,Divorce,(65:6)}

*iddat=read 'iddah,is the time the woman(divorced or whose husband has just died)has to refrain from marriage for four months and ten days .
