Equality.. the dream of so many people.How do we go about getting to it.

If we look at it socially..does equality really exist?

Are all people treated exactly the same? Do we all have the same RIGHTS?

People are treated differently according to gender, color,social standard, origin, religion.

Observe children listen to them , they are the mirrors of their societies.Whatever they say to others is something they have already heard from their parents at home or from their peers either at school, or on the streets. They are always making fun of the other children, this one’s black ,the other is yellow ,this one’s father is the janitor,that one’s mother is cuban. That kid is tall, the other we’re all afraid of cause he’s got power(bodily or socially),this one’s dumb, that girl is popular because she’s pretty.

You see it’s the human nature.. to look down at people because of differences ,and to look up at others because of the same differences.

Now in Islam, Allah (subhanahu wata’ala) has given us the rules of treating each other (fairly).. and whether we submit to these rules will give or deprive human beings of their rights.

In the Quran (S.49 A.11){O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor let some women laugh at others : it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness,(to be used of one)after he has believed: and those who do not desist are indeed doing wrong.}

Then again in the same “sura”(aya 13) Allah tells us who is the one to be singled out:

Then again we return to the issue of equality between men and women :

Allah (subhanhu wata’alla) gave the woman the place right next to the man ,without differentiating in rights nor in duties.She has exactly the same rights except in one rank and that is (kiwama)the
